Create your first one-shot campaign

Need help creating your first one-shot campaign? Here are all the steps you need to follow.

One-shot campaigns are perfect for sending timely and impactful messages, whether for announcements, promotions, or user engagement. This guide will walk you through setting up your first campaign in Batch, covering targeting, scheduling, and message composition. Let’s get started! 🚀

The ‘Campaigns’ tab is dedicated to ‘one-shot’ campaigns, including Now and Scheduled campaigns.

The campaign editor is made up of 3 steps:

  1. Targeting: full base or fine-tuning segmentation, through native targeting or custom data;

  2. Timing: sending time that can either be now or scheduled;

  3. Message: the content of the campaign that will be sent to the user.

To begin, go to your Batch Dashboard, then navigate to Campaigns > New campaign > Select the channel of your choice (Email, Push, or SMS message), and name it to start a new campaign:

Optional: you can add labels to your campaign (up to 5):

Labels serve two main purposes: they allow you to set a marketing pressure limit across all campaigns/automations sharing the same label, and they enable you to filter campaigns/automations based on their assigned labels.

Then, let's set up your campaign! 💪

Targeting

The targeting block is where you will define the segmentation of your campaign.

By default, Batch considers that you will target your entire audience. First, you can select a specific country or language.

Then, you can refine your segmentation through different options, by clicking:

Add Conditions

From then on, you will be able to select native targeting elements (Email domain, etc.), but also profile attributes (data specific to your app business and selected thanks to the tagging plan):

Use Segment

It will allow you to call Segments as blocks in the targeting and combine segments (inclusions and/or exclusions) by calling up to 10 segments in your targeting:

When a segment is linked to an orchestration, you can access / view the segment by clicking on the eye icon 👁️.

Use Audience

You can add a specific Audience to your communication:

Play with AND/OR option

You can add up as many conditions as you want, and create specific scenarios by clicking on 'AND/OR':

💡 Let's take the example of a one-shot campaign sent out on Valentine's Day with a pretty cool message like; “Roses are red, violets are blue... our Valentine's sale is just for you 💝”.

This campaign is to be sent to:

  • Users from your “VIP clients” segment

  • Users who purchased within the last 2 months (high probability of purchase)

Here's what campaign targeting should look like:

Timing

Now that we know who to send your communication to, let's define when to send it!

There are 2 possibilities:

  • Now

By selecting Now, the communication will be sent as soon as you click the 'Save and run' button at the bottom of the form.

  • Scheduled

Selecting Scheduled will bring up new fields for setting up the time and date.

💡 For example on 07/10/2024 at 17h15:

You can choose to send your communication on Local time or Global time (UTC):

  • The Local Time option lets you send a message that will be received at a given time according to the user’s time zone. This ensures that marketing efforts target your users at a uniform time.

  • On the other hand, the Global Time (UTC) option allows you to send a message to your users at a specific UTC time regardless of their location.

Last but not least, let's compose your message! ✍️

Message

Message editors vary from one channel to another. To learn more about composition, visit the following sections:

Run your campaign

Now that your campaign is ready, you can either run it or keep it as a draft and launch it later 🌟

Once your campaign is live, you can track its performance in the Analytics section.
